COMMUNITY NEWS
We offer a wide variety of activities at our communities. Below are just a few examples of the fun we are having at White Pine, Comforts of Home and Gracewood Senior Living.
Gracewood of North Branch- Happy almost Spring!
/We have had an exciting week at Gracewood Senior Living in North Branch! We have been so happy to see the sunshine, and not only that, the amaryllis that we have been waiting for, has bloomed! Some of us took bets on how many flowers would come of it, and we ended up with four beautiful red flowers!
The Homemakers Club brought a load of different hats for us to try on and walk back in time with. Everyone talked about the different kinds of hats they wore through the years. We loved seeing which one suited each other. It was truly a fun day.
Our first letter from our new pen pal came in the mail from South Carolina. It was so fun to hear about their weather and about their new baby! We wrote back and had more to tell than we thought we would! We can’t wait to see what will be on our agenda for next week!
Happy almost Spring!
Gracewood of Hugo- Valentine Activities
/The residents at Gracewood of Hugo spent an entire week in February doing Valentine activities. The residents searched for 100 hearts hidden in the common areas all over the building. They also searched for one special chocolate filled heart. Jackie and Trudy were gracious enough to return to Gracewood to lead a Valentine’s Day sing-a-long for us. The songs were all about love and marriage. The week concluded with delicious valentine treats with raspberry cheesecake, chocolates, and red punch.
Gracewood of Maplewood- March (St. Patrick's Day)
/It’s March so Spring is just around the corner which we are excited about. At Gracewood in Maplewood we are just as excited for St. Patrick’s Day. We will celebrate with Irish music and Irish stew – a fun time for everyone!
White Pine of White Bear Lake-St. Paul Winter Carnival Royalty
/Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
January was a busy month for us at White Bear Lake. We all were so excited when the St. Paul Winter Carnival Royalty came and spent an afternoon with us! February is going to be a busy month as well. Come join us for some music with Tony Tuesdays at 10:30am, and don’t miss out on our Valentine's day party February 13th at 2pm with live entertainment.
Comforts of Home of Chippewa Falls-New Year
/Tenants in both our Assisted Living and Memory Care buildings rang in the New Year with party favors and noise makers. They enjoyed snacks and some sparkling juice along with music.
Gracewood of Hugo-New Year's Celebration
/The residents at Gracewood of Hugo brought in the New Year with a New Year’s celebration. They had sparkling cider, a nice assortment of snacks and wore party hats. We also celebrated a birthday of a dear friend who was born on New Year’s Day.
Gracewood of Hugo-Back to the 50's day
/ Gracewood of Hugo had a back to the 50’s day in January, celebrating Elvis’ birthday month. We started with burgers, fries, and shakes which were served diner-style for lunch. Following lunch, Elvis played with a full hour of a variety of Elvis’ greatest hits. The ladies were blushing as Elvis took their hands, looked into their eyes and sang his love songs directly to them. We ended the afternoon with a snack of whoopee pies and juice.
Gracewood of North Branch-A SPECIAL THANK YOU
/During the year, there is a very special lady who takes the time to make a beautiful quilt for each of our residents. She throws in a couple extra “just in case”. That means, at Christmas time, we receive 32 brand new, soft and beautiful quilts to give to our residents. They loved them! There were a lot of ooooooos and aaaaaaahhhhhs when they opened their Christmas gifts. We want to thank Cheryl Clawson for all the hard work she puts in, and all the supplies she provides for the quilts. It is truly a blessing. Not only to Cheryl, but we would like to send out a big huge THANK YOU to all the people who donated their time and talents into making sure our residents at Gracewood in North Branch, have a wonderful Christmas. The Legion, Lions club, VFW, and their auxiliaries, the boy scouts, and many more volunteers all make this place and this world a wonderful place to be.
